WELCOME TO AIKEN FC!
With our inaugural season approaching, our website now up and running, and our club in full swing, we wanted to say, “thank you” for giving us the privilege of instructing and getting to know your children. We firmly believe this club is the start of something special for local families to develop and grow in both the game of soccer and the game of life.
The coaches and board have been diligently meeting and working for the past few months to prepare for this first season. As many of you are aware, the coaches spent their time organizing voluntary 3V3 workouts all summer while preparing for the coming of Fall leagues. The board met weekly parceling out jobs and addressing pressing needs to meet the demands of a new and ever-growing club for the Aiken area. An area that is rapidly expanding.
When we initially began the start-up of Aiken FC, we all had dreams of enlarging the footprint of the club to encompass all of Aiken County and the surrounding South Carolina counties. However, the overwhelming job of getting a soccer club off the ground consumed the vast majority of our time making the growth into surrounding communities a future project. However, a few weeks ago, that “future” project transformed to the present. Last month, coaches and parents from a former club in North Augusta contacted us. Their club was dissolving and they had heard of our little venture so they reached out to us to see what we were all about. We gave them our pitch of developing local talent with local coaches and keeping the focus on the community aspect of our club. Fast forward to August, and Aiken FC is proud to include two teams from North Augusta in our family. We have added a North Augusta member to our Board of Directors and we wholeheartedly plan to grow in North Augusta and throughout Aiken County bringing our love of soccer and positive approach to everyone in the area. We already have members from Edgefield, Barnwell, and Bamberg counties in addition to all parts of Aiken County so the love is certainly spreading far and wide.
All of us who have embarked on this journey can attest we never expected this much work. No matter how much you plan, how much you think you know, surprises are always waiting around the corner. Thus, we also want to take this time to not only state our gratitude, but also thank you for your patience. We realize there have been speed bumps along our journey so far that may have caused you inconvenience. We appreciate your understanding and trust that we have addressed any inconvenience to your satisfaction. If not, always feel free to contact us. We cannot rectify an issue if we are unaware of it. We also trust that the club you have now helped to build is worth all the setbacks during construction. A construction project that is still on-going.
This Fall as your son or daughter represents club, community, and family, remember to enjoy the entire event not just the game. Whether you have started club soccer for the first time or have been doing this for years, the time with our children is fleeting, and this time even shorter still. Enjoy the time in the car to the games; the meals with the teammates and their families; the wins, the losses, saves, shots, and goals; the miracles and the “what-ifs”; the tighter bonds of family and friends. You are making memories so make them bring a smile to your face.
